Importance of Knowing Languages

I think that, like said in the video, it is very important that we know more than one language because there are many different ideas that aren't known in only one language. Knowing more than one language will also allow you to be able to communicate to people that speak other languages and you can learn different cultures and learn different ways like that. Like said in the video, what if one person knew the cure to cancer, we would never know because we wouldn't be able to communicate or translate it over. Also it said in the video that knowing more than one language it can help with remembering and such when older, I honestly think that's a pretty cool fact. I, myself, am working on learning my third language so I think this video was really interesting and really true, I saw that this video was somewhat relevant to me learning more languages and I thought it was pretty cool to hear what this English teacher had to say about learning more languages and etc.

I think the lyrics are talking about how that if the girl who he's talking about leaves he will be really upset, he won't ever forget about her and she will remain in his mind. He talks about every day without her is pain he has to live with. He says won't be okay until she returns again.

Current Event

Recently in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the body of a lost girl was found naked in a garbage bag in an empty lot where an old building once stood, found by someone looking through the trash. 

The girl who was 11, Candela Rodriguez, was found Wednesday afternoon. She became an icon and symbol for all lost children in Argentina. 

When Candela went missing August 22nd, her family went straight to the media, when social websites like twitter picked up her story that’s when her disappearance became a top story. 

Everyone hope for her safe return. Though, all the attention didn’t save her. 

The police are investigating her kidnapping and killing, but it shows that it was to plot against the dad. Candela’s father, Alfredo Rodriguez, was put in jail for three years for being in the “street pirate” gang. Candela’s aunt had gotten a call after her disappearance that said they threatened to kill the girl if the father didn’t pay back the money he owed. 

The police searched the house that was believed she was held in. Her body was found in a lot, in a garbage bag, where an demolished house once stood.

Maria's First Blog Entry

What do you hope to do this semester?
For this semester, I am striving to do the best I can in this class and all my other ones as well. I'm hoping by the time this year is over I will be able to speak Spanish fluently, I'm taking Spanish 2 next semester. I'm also going to try to get most of my tutorials over with in the beginning so I have more time to socialize towards the end of this semester. 
What are your thoughts about blogging?
Well, I don't really know much about blogging yet since I've never done it before. As of now, I think this well be a pretty useful tool since it's rather easy to work with and it's better than having to print everything out. 
Is there anything you want me to know as we progress through the semester?
Right now, no. If anything in particular comes up I want you to know I'll make sure to tell you.
